There is more than one way to enjoy a spare moment. Choose the sort of attention you feel like giving, then let a game do its thing.
For a calm little think.
Puzzles cover matching, sorting, number logic and spatial problems. Strategy games ask you to plan against an opponent or manage a small system. They reward different kinds of thought, so use the mechanic label on each card to find a challenge you enjoy.
Start with a familiar idea such as memory or four in a row. The title is playful; the short instructions are the practical part.
For a quick burst of action.
The arcade corner has movement, timing, aiming and reflex challenges. Sports games turn familiar actions into small browser challenges: aim a shot, time a release or control a ball.
Read the controls before starting. A quick-reaction game can feel busy, while another game in the same category gives you time to line up a move.
For words or a hand of cards.
Word games include hidden words, scrambled letters and connections between them. Cards includes solitaire, dominoes, set finding and small hand challenges. These are local point-based games with no purchases or cash prizes.
Search for a familiar mechanic, such as anagram or solitaire, instead of guessing from the artwork.
Keep the good ones close.
Use the heart on a game card to save it in this browser. My playroom brings those favourites together with the records from your finished attempts. If nothing fits your mood today, the home page’s Surprise me button chooses another real game from the catalogue.
